CAP: Car-Arrival-Progress; a personalized webpage on JAPOX CORPORATION's website that allows vehicle buyers to track the progress of their shipment. CIF: Cost, Insurance, and Freight; a sales term indicating that the price quoted by a seller includes insurance and all other charges up to the named port of discharge.
City Delivery: A service provided by JAPOX CORPORATION for transporting the vehicle from the port of discharge to a designated city or border for delivery to the recipient.
Clearing Agent: An authorized individual or company appointed by customs authorities to verify and manage the shipment process between countries. They handle the customs clearance procedures for your car.
Commercial Invoice: A document required by customs to determine the actual value of imported goods for duty and tax assessment purposes.
Consignee: The person who becomes the "owner" of the car after it is registered in the destination country.
Deregistration Certificate: See Export Certificate.
DHL Delivery Address: The address used by JAPOX CORPORATION to dispatch shipping documents (excluding the vehicle) to the buyer.
EAA: East Africa Automobile Services; an inspection company authorized by the Tanzanian Standard Bureau (TBS) and Ugandan National Standard Bureau (UNBS) to conduct pre-export inspections.
ETA: Estimated Time of Arrival; the anticipated date and time of arrival for an air or sea journey at a specified city or port.
ETD: Estimated Time of Departure; the expected date and time of departure for an air or sea journey from a specified city or port.
Export Certificate: A document confirming the legal export of items from their country of origin (e.g., the cancellation of the car's previous registration in Japan).
Export Permit: A document issued by the Japanese Customs Office to ensure compliance with applicable export control measures.
FOB: 1) JAPOX CORPORATION's price for the car itself. 2) Free on Board; a sales term where the quoted price by a seller includes all charges until the goods are placed on board a ship at the departure port.
Forwarding Agent: An individual or company responsible for arranging the transportation of cargo from the port of discharge to the vehicle's destination country.
Import Permit: A document issued by certain governments granting permission for the importation of goods. The South African government requires this document, issued by the ITAC, for importing vehicles, along with a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by the NRCS.
Inspection Certificate: A document confirming that the vehicle has passed the required pre-export inspection, meeting the necessary specifications, and being in good condition and the correct quantity when leaving the departure port.
Insurance Document: Proof of insurance for shipments under CIF terms.
Intertek: Intertek International Ltd.; a company authorized by the Mozambican government to conduct inspections on all imported vehicles before shipment.
ITAC: International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa; an organization responsible for managing international trade affairs in South Africa, including import and export control. To import vehicles, the South African government requires an Import Permit issued by ITAC and a Letter of Authorization (LOA) issued by NRCS.
JEVIC: Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center Co., Ltd.; a Japanese company specializing in inspecting and certifying cargo before shipment. The Kenyan and Zambian governments require the inspection certificate issued by JEVIC for importing vehicles.
LOA: Letter of Authorization; a document required by certain governments for importing a vehicle. The South African government mandates an LOA, issued by NRCS, along with an Import Permit issued by ITAC, for importing vehicles.
Notify Party: The designated individual or party that the shipping agent contacts to provide the confirmed arrival date of the cargo vessel at the port.
NRCS: National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications; the regulatory body in South Africa responsible for enforcing mandatory product specifications. NRCS issues the Letter of Authorization (LOA) required for importing vehicles, along with the Import Permit issued by ITAC.
Packing List: A detailed inventory included in the shipment, specifying the quantity, description, and weight of the contents.
Port of Departure: The location where a ship or shipment begins its journey.
Port of Discharge: The destination port where a vessel unloads its cargo, and shipments are distributed to their respective recipients.
Proforma Invoice: A preliminary invoice providing an estimated cost based on the selected vehicle and shipping conditions.
Shipping Agent: An agency appointed to handle the transportation and logistics of shipments at ports and harbors on behalf of shipping companies.
Transshipment: The transfer of a shipment from one vessel to another during transit to its final destination.
TT Copy: Telegraphic Transfer Copy; a physical record of a bank transfer document.
Under Offer: An offer has been made by a potential buyer to purchase the vehicle, temporarily making it unavailable for other customers to make offers or receive quotes.
Vanning Charge/Fee: The fee associated with loading and securing a shipping container.
Vehicle Destination: The country where the vehicle will be registered and used.
